well, that’s a first. [wine + grilled cheese]

i tried this recipe for the first time last night, and it’s definitely worth passing on. the batter was so light & fluffy, and the sour cream really seems to give it a little something extra. enjoy!
janet’s rich banana bread
1 stick butter, softened
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon juice
1 ¾ cup ap flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp cinnamon
½ cup sour cream
1 cup [or more] bananas, mashed
½ cup nuts [optional]

preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x5 loaf pan.

in a large bowl, whip the butter and sugar until smooth. then add the eggs,  vanilla, and lemon juice and mix just until incorporated. in a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda/powder, salt, and cinnamon. stir into the butter mixture until smooth.
fold in the sour cream, nuts, and bananas and spread evenly into the prepared pan. bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. cool loaf in the pan for ten minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

rhyan helped prep this tuscan potato, sausage + kale soup last night, then we headed out to shoot some basketball while it simmered. [i doubled the recipe so there were plenty of leftovers] we came home to the smell of heaven, quickly toasted/buttered some crusty bread, and the end result was without a doubt quite delightful.
so rich & hearty, just go make a pot and see for yourself.
